From sailors to pop icons – men wearing earrings have been around forever. Yet, it remains a daunting choice for many men. Is it okay if you're over 30? Isn't it too flashy, too feminine, too youthful?
In this blog post, I'll take you through the history and revival of the men's earring. And I'll show you how style, craftsmanship, and character come together in a small but powerful detail.

Once Very Ordinary
Men wearing earrings are anything but a modern invention. Centuries ago, sailors wore gold earrings as a sign of courage and adventure.
In fishing villages like Urk, this is still visible today: young men there still proudly wear a gold earring, often with a ship engraved on it. It's more than just a piece of jewelry – it's a sign of connection with their roots and life at sea.
In other cultures, too, the earring was a masculine symbol – from kings in the East to warriors in Africa. Only in the 20th century did this image change, and the male earring became more often associated with subcultures or a rebellious image.
The Return of the Male Earring
These days, we're seeing more and more men wearing earrings. From young fathers with a subtle stud to rugged thirty-somethings with a silver ring. The boundaries are blurring—and thankfully so. Self-expression is allowed.
A comment on Reddit summed up the sentiment well:
"I like those little black earrings. Or piercings. But unfortunately, there's not much variety for men, and it can easily look too cheesy or feminine."
And that's precisely the problem. Many men want something stylish, but the selection is often limited to plastic studs, excessive bling, or generic jewelry you see in every mall. Many men wonder if there's a special meaning behind wearing two earrings. The short answer: not anymore—it's mainly a matter of style and self-expression. Choose what suits you best.

From Trend to Style Choice
An earring doesn't have to be a statement—it can simply be part of your style. A subtle silver ring, a stud with a dark gemstone, or a handcrafted design with a subtle story.
I believe that jewelry for men—just as for women—should emphasize character. Not flashy, but powerful through simplicity and meaning.
Craft for Him
My men's line features a wide variety of earrings—from stylish silver studs with gemstones to bolder hook earrings with a unique twist. Many of my designs are one-of-a-kind and appeal to men who crave that little bit extra: character, craftsmanship, and something you won't find on every street corner.

Many earrings also come with matching necklaces, often featuring the same gemstone or a matching design. I enjoy working in sets, so your jewelry not only stands alone but also forms a cohesive whole with everything else you're wearing.
Whether you're looking for subtle or striking pieces , in my studio we'll work together to find what suits you. No standard mass-produced pieces, but jewelry with a personal story.
It's not about trends, but about jewelry that really suits you – and perhaps even lasts a lifetime.
Dare to Wear What Suits You
Men wearing earrings are back after never really going away. But the time is ripe for more variety – more style, more craftsmanship, more character. Away from mass production and back to jewelry with meaning.
