A graceful and unique pair of dragonfly earrings, handmade in filigree. While these sterling silver studs are super cute, the special technique used to create them also gives them a very elegant and refined look and a sturdy, solid feel.
Filigree is the process of decorating an object with thin silver wires. The wires, often twisted into thin cables, are embedded in a framework of slightly thicker wires. All of this is soldered together into shapes and figures to create beautiful jewelry or objects. To me, this kind of metalwork looks a bit like lace, but with a silver or gold thread instead of silk.
